Illinois Public Adjusters

Public adjusters have a tremendous amount of power in adjusting insurance claims, and unfortunately that power is often times abused.

An insured has a variety or protections under Illinois law against illegal and unethical acts performed by public adjusters. If a public adjuster violates rules and standards that are set out in Illinois statutes and the Illinois Department of Insurance administrative code, you may be able to void your contract with your public adjuster and recover damages incurred as a result of the violation. Some of the most common illegal and unethical acts performed by public adjusters are as follows:

  • A public adjuster must be licensed with the Illinois Department of Insurance;

  • A public adjuster must have use a contract that is approved by the Director of the Illinois Department of Insurance;

  • A public adjuster must inform the client of the right to cancel the contract; and

  • A public adjuster must provide at least two good faith, competitive bids for any contractor, vendor, or service provider recommended by the public adjuster

So if you have ever worked with public adjuster and believe that they performed any illegal and/or unethical acts, call Ball & McCann, P.C. at (872) 205-6556 for a free consultation today, so an experienced attorney can help you secure your rights.
